    Dr. Luis Bowen, M.D. is an interventional and structural cardiologist at The Cardiac and Vascular Interventional Group. He has quickly become known as a rising cardiologist throughout the cardiology community and is well respected amongst his peers. Dr. Bowen is well-trained in interventional cardiology and in the new and ever-growing field of structural cardiology.

    Dr. Bowen was born and raised in Tyler, Texas where he graduated in the top 10% of his high school class. He attended Auburn University and graduated Magna Cum Laude earning his Bachelor of Science with a pre-med focus. Dr. Bowen was inspired to help others and further his education in the medical field. Following his undergraduate degree, he attended The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and earned his medical degree. He traveled abroad to Ecuador to provide medical care for an underserved tribal community. While in medical school, Dr. Bowen gained a passion for cardiology and went on to complete his residency at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). While at UAB he co-authored a book on the topic of usefulness of transesophageal echocardiogram in assessment of mitral valve disorders. Dr. Bowen then completed his Cardiology Fellowship at The University of Cincinnati, where he perfected his general cardiology skill set. Dr. Bowen furthered his training at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was trained at the internationally recognized cardiology program which specializes in interventional and structural cardiology. Not only did he become a master of interventional cardiology while at Cedar Sanai, but he is one of the select few interventional cardiologists who was also trained in structural cardiology. Dr. Bowen trained in completing transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR), mitraclips, patent foramen ovale (PFO) closures, and Watchman device placement.

    During Dr. Bowen’s training at Cincinnati and Cedars Sinai, he participated in many clinical trials including the SOLID TIMI-52 trial, Odyssey trial, and REVERSE-AD trial. He additionally participated in multiple live case trainings that were broadcasted internationally. Dr. Bowen is currently the principal investigator for the clinical trial: PK Papyrus Covered Coronary Stent System. Dr. Bowen has broadened his cardiovascular system skill set and developed his skills in peripheral artery disease. His passion lies in providing care to the underserved communities. Dr. Bowen strives to be the very best doctor for his patients by dedicating himself to lifelong learning. He prides himself in staying up to date on the management and procedural techniques of the cardiovascular world.
